Issue/Introduction

For the scenario mentioned, users are advised to wait until a compatible iso that is either equal or higher than 8.0.1-21813344 is available . If user cannot wait, they need a forward path.

Symptoms:
To upgrade ESXi to have specific hardware, the user must fetch the appropriate ISO. It may happen that the vendor has published ISO compatible with a lower build and has yet to publish an iso compatible with ESXi 8.0.1 that is 8.0.1-21813344 or higher than 8.0.1-21813344.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0
Vmware Cloud Foundation 4.5

Cause

The user performs ESXi upgrade with custom ISO compatible with a lower build than 8.0.1-21813344 to get related fixes. However, they cannot experience all the VCF features. The features are enabled when they upgrade hosts to build equal to or higher than 8.0.1-21813344.

Resolution

Wait until a compatible ISO is available from the hardware vendor that is compatible with a build that is equal to or higher than 8.0.1-21813344 for upgrading to VCF 5.0.

Workaround:

If the user has a valid scenario to apply the latest available custom ISO compatible with a lower build, then the user must apply to the next subsequent ISO as well that is, compatible with an equal or higher build than X which is when all VCF functionalities are enabled.
