vCLS VM Guest Customization Event Error

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Failed Events for vCLS VMs when we go to the events tab.

Event Description:

An error occurred while customizing VM vCLS-xxxxxx . For details reference the log file /var/log/vmware-imc/toolsDeployPkg.log in the guest OS.

Event Type Description:

The customization component failed to set the required parameters inside the guest operating system.

Description

vCLS VM is a strip-down version of the photon with only a few packages installed.  vCLS VM password is set using guest customization. . Password reset succeeds but the event failure is due to missing packages in vCLS VM which do not impact any of the vCLS functionality.

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.0.3

Resolution

No resolution available.

Workaround:
This is just a cosmetic issue and does not impact any functionality. These event failures can simply be ignored.
