  • vSphere Client UI will display below confirmation dialog when the host is moved from an image managed cluster to Datacenter/Folder.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0 U3

Resolution

When a host is moved from an image managed cluster to a Datacenter/Folder, vLCM will make the best effort to make the Standalone Host managed via image in following cases  :

S. NO
Condition
1.
Host is not in disconnected or unreachable state.
2.
Software pre-check to determine if the host contains NSX component is able to run fine.
3.
Host being moved doesn't have NSX component installed on it.
4.
Host being moved contains NSX Component version of 4.2 or higher.

If any of the above conditions are not met and the host cannot become image managed, it will fallback to being baseline managed Standalone host.
