Issue/Introduction

This article provides descriptions for the inputs at the "Edit VM Startup/Shutdown" dialog so that customers can tell which input is for what.

Symptoms:

Navigating to "Host - Configure - Virtual Machines - VM Startup/Shutdown - Edit..." will show the input labels staggered on top and the inputs won't have a label to identify them.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.2

Cause

Problems with the CSS styles used are causing the issue.

Resolution

VMware is aware of this issue and working to resolve this in a future release.

Workaround:

The following labels should be considered for every input respectively:

  •   "Automatically start and stop the virtual machines with the system" checkbox should be considered to have a label "System Influence"
  •   The next number input should be considered to have a label "Startup delay"
  •   The next number input should be considered to have a label "Shutdown delay"
  •   The checkbox "Continue if VMware Tools is started" is associated with the "Shutdown delay" input
  •   The select dropdown should be considered to have a label "Shutdown action"
