Starting with vSphere 7.0 Update 3, ESXi host PTP time service supports hardware-based timestamping using a NIC in PCI passthrough mode.
This document maintains the list of supported NICs.
ESX PTP time service can be used with certain devices in DirectPath I/O passthrough mode or SRIOV passthrough mode.

Select "IO Devices" in What are you looking for.
Select "PTP over SRIOV" in Features.
Click Update and View Results.
