Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
After a host is prep for NSX-T, the host goes into a boot loop if a reboot is perform.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x
VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 4.x

Cause

Verify if the host is booting from SAN which may have slow performance and a third party vendor ESXi image is used which contains additonal drivers.

When booting from a disk (including SAN, iSCSI, etc., which the bootloader sees as disks), there is a 5-minute timeout for the whole boot. It can take more than 5 minutes when all the VIBs are included. Hence, the host goes into a bootloop.

Resolution

Use a vanilla Esxi image and only add the require VIBs/Drivers to build the custom image to install for the host.
