Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

The syslog files in /var/log/syslog on NSX Manager are continuously reporting: "Edge EdgeTransportNode ... has no VIFS. Retry VM tagging at next task execution."

NSX xxxx FABRIC [nsx@xxxx comp="nsx-manager" level="WARNING" subcomp="manager"] Edge EdgeTransportNode//infra/sites/default/enforcement-points/default/edge-transport-node/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx has no VIFs. Retry VM tagging at next task execution

Environment

VMware NSX-T

Resolution

Please check the Edge VM is deployed on a non-NSX-T prepared host. If so, this warning message is normal and can be safely ignored.

This log is from a periodic job that attempts to tag Edge VMs to exclude them from the Distributed Firewall. Since the hosts are not prepared for NSX-T, therefore VM tagging for these Edges for DFW exclusion is not applicable.
