Setting up a static IP address in a Windows virtual machine when using bridged mode in VMware Fusion

Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps for set up the network configuration in a Windows virtual machine with bridged mode and a static IP address.

Resolution

To set up network configuration with bridged mode and a static IP:

 

  1. Set the virtual machine's network adapter to Bridged in VMware Fusion. For more information, see the Fusion help topic Connect and setup the network adapter (with Fusion running, select Help and type in the search field).
  2. Start the virtual machine and log in as an administrator.
  3. Access the network configuration settings.

    For Windows 10:
     
    1. Click on the Windows Button.
    2. Go To Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Click on Connections (example : Ethernet0) > Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties
       
    For Windows XP:
     
    1. Click Start > Settings > Network Connections.
    2. Right-click Local Area Connection.
    3. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
    4. Click Properties.
