Resolution

When you use EMC CLARiiON or Invista arrays for storage, it is required that the hosts register with the arrays. ESXi/ESX performs automatic host registration by sending the host’s name and IP address to the array.

In some cases, you may need to disable the auto-registration feature that is enabled by default for EMC CLARiiON arrays on vSphere and use manual registration. To perform manual registration using storage management software, turn off the ESXi/ESX auto-registration feature.

To disable the auto-registration feature:
  1. In the vSphere Client, select the host in the inventory.
  2. Click the Configuration tab and click Advanced Settings under Software.
  3. Select Disk in the left panel and scroll to Disk.EnableNaviReg.
  4. Change the default value to 0.
  5. Reboot the ESX host for the changes to take effect.
