Converting a machine fails with the error: the destination does not support 64-bit guests

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Using vCenter Converter Standalone or the vCenter Converter Plug-in to convert a machine fails
• You see this error when converting a machine:
  
  the destination does not support 64-bit guests

Environment

VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 4.3.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Converter 4.1.x

Resolution

You may receive this error if your host is not properly configured to support 64-bit virtual machines.

Ensure that your ESX host (all ESX hosts in DRS enabled cluster) has a 64-bit capable processor and that you have Virtualization Technology and the Execute Disable options enabled in your server's BIOS.
