This article explains the causes of this message.

At the end of the vmware.log file, located in the virtual machine directory, you see this message:

VMX has left the building: 0

Environment

  • VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0
  • VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0
  • VMware vSphere ESXi 9.0

Resolution

This is an informational message and is caused by powering off a Virtual Machine or performing a vMotion of the Virtual Machine to a new host. It can be safely ignored.
