Environment

VMware VirtualCenter 2.5.x

VMware vCenter Converter 4.2.x

Resolution

Converter plugin for VirtualCenter fails to install because the SSL keys fail to generate.

To resolve this issue, use one of these solutions that best suits your environment.

Solution 1
  1. Copy the SSL keys (rui.key and rui.crt) from another machine to this machine. By default, the SSL keys are located at:
    • Windows Server 2003 – C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Plugins\Converter Enterprise\ssl
    • Windows Server 2008 – C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter\ssl
2. Create the directory on the machine on which you are installing the plugin, if it does not already exist.
3. Retry the installation.

Solution 2
  1. Disable any services or applications that may be using openssl.
  2. Run a search for ssleay32.dll.
  3. Rename the file.
  4. Retry the installation.
