Issue/Introduction

The VMware Compatibility Guide incorrectly states that the Hot Add Memory feature is supported with Windows Server 2008 SP2 in vSphere 5.1. Reference the VMware Compatibility Guide
Microsoft states that Hot-Add Memory support is supported in Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition and Datacenter Edition, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition and Datacenter Edition, and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise and Datacenter Editions. Symptoms:

When you enable the Memory Hot-Add feature to a Windows Server 2008 virtual machine and return to the guest OS it will ask to reboot.

Virtual machine Hot-Add Memory support is available for the following editions of Windows Server:
Windows Server 2008 R2, Enterprise Edition and Datacenter Edition

Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition and Datacenter Edition
