Issue/Introduction

The consoleuser account credentials have been forgotten or are unknown for VCF Operations for Networks

NOTE:  VCF Operations for Networks was formerly named Aria Operations for Networks (AON), and prior to that was named vRealize Network Insight (vRNI).

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks 6.13.0

VCF Operations for Networks 6.14.x

Resolution

  • The consoleuser account password cannot be recovered or reset if it has been forgotten without assistance from Broadcom Support.

  • The consoleuser account is required to perform many functions via the CLI.

  • It is also required to be able to reset the support account password.

  • The consoleuser account password can be reset with the assistance of Broadcom support who will require the ability to access the appliance via the root account, with a Broadcom-defined password which is confidential and not to be disclosed.

  • If the root password has been changed by person or persons unknown via unknown methods, this is completely unsupported.  In that case, the deployment should be abandoned and deleted and a fresh deployment done.

Please open a Broadcom Support case. For more information, see Creating and managing Broadcom support cases.

Additional Information

If the consoleuser or support password is known, then the consoleuser or support, GUI (admin@local) and support user passwords can be reset without Broadcom Support assistance.

Please refer to the following knowledge base article to reset default account passwords: How to update/change and reset password for GUI/SSH and CLI usernames in Aria Operations for Networks.
