Issue/Introduction

During migration of virtual machines using vMotion, you see this symptom:

In the vsfwd.log file, you see entries similar to:

2016-10-30T18:32:31Z vsfwd: [ERROR] VSFW ioctl failed (16, 30): rc=-1, err=No such file or directory.

Note: The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to the polling in IP discovery polling as it is unable to find a filter of a migrated VM during vMotion.

Resolution

These error messages are benign and can be safely ignored.
