VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager virtual machine shows the status: Device Not Found

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Unable to protect a virtual machine
• The protection group has a yellow exclamation mark
• One of the virtual machines is showing the status:
  
  Device Not Found

Environment

VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 4.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs if devices such as CD-ROMs and floppy drives are marked as not configured.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure the devices.

To configure the devices:

1. Right-click the virtual machine and click Configure protection.
2. In the Configure protection wizard, you are presented with a window that lists all of the storage devices. If a device is listed as Not Configured in the Recovery location column, select the device and click Detach.
3. Click Next and finish the Configure protection wizard.
