The Annotation Notes field in the Summary page of a virtual machine fails to update

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• The Summary page of the virtual machine in vCenter Server displays an incorrect entry in the Annotations field
• When viewing the Summary page of a virtual machine without an entry for the Annotations field, the field is populated with the entry of the previously viewed virtual machine.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x

Resolution

To work around this issue:

1. In vCenter Server, select the virtual machine that displays the incorrect annotation.
2. Click the Summary page.
3. In the Annotations field, click Edit and add a note.
4. Click OK.
5. Click Edit again and remove the note.
6. Click OK.
