Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You cannot connect to https://<esxi_management_ip>:1311/ after installing the Dell OpenManage agent on an ESXi host
  • The installation appears successful but nothing is listening on port 1311

Resolution

Dell OpenManage listens to port 1311 on ESX but not on ESXi.
ESXi needs a Distributed Web Server (DWS) installed on a Windows operating system. The Dell OpenManage Webpage can be accessed from the DWS via the Manage Remote Node option. For more information, contact Dell.
