Checking compliance of a host profile

Issue/Introduction

After a host is configured using the reference host profile, it is possible that a manual change is made to the configuration.

Note: To ensure that the host remains in compliance with the reference host profile, check the compliance status on the host profile regularly.

Symptoms:

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 5.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x

Resolution

To check a host profile compliance:

1. In the Entities tab of the host profile main view, choose the host from the list under Associated Entity.
2. Click Check Compliance.
3. The compliance status is updated as Compliant, Unknown, or Non-compliant.
