The vCenter Support Assistant is packaged as a virtual appliance that is available in OVA format.

  1. Download the virtual appliance to your chosen directory.
  2. In the vSphere Web Client, select an inventory object that is a valid parent object of a virtual machine. For example:

A data center, folder, cluster, resource pool, or an ESXi host.

  3. Select Actions > All vCenter Actions > Deploy OVF Template.

Note: For more information on deploying OVF templates see, The vSphere Virtual Machine Administration Guide.

  4. Type the path or the URL to the OVA file, and click Next.
  5. Review the OVA details and click Next.
  6. Read the EULA and click Accept > Next.
  7. In the step, Select name and folder of the Deploy OVF Template wizard, specify:

    • The name of the virtual machine.
    • The folder where the virtual machine is located when deployed.

Note: The name must be unique within each vCenter Server.

  8. Select or search for a data center or folder for the virtual machine, click Next.
  9. Select the disk format in Select Storage for OVF Template.

Note: Thin disk is recommended to conserve datastore space.

  10. Select a datastore for the deployed OVF template and click Next.
  11. In Setup networks, select a Source network in the table and map it to a Destination network.

Note: This starts deployment of the virtual appliance.
