Issue/Introduction

During the VCHA deployment, all the environmental information will be captured and used during configuration. Any modification after initial VCHA configuration, VCHA will fail to configure

When configuring a VCHA on an SDRS cluster fails with error:

"The operation is not allowed in the current state"
"One or more hosts used for vCenter HA deployment have datastores not mounted on the host"

Environment

VMware vCenter Server
VMware vCenter Server Appliance

Cause

During deployment,if SDRS(Storage DRS) will try to move the deployed VC VM across datastores which leads to the failure.

Resolution

Use one of the below options during deployment

  1. Configure VCHA to a non SDRS enabled cluster or datastores which are not part of the SDRS.
  2. Before enabling VCHA, place the SDRS into manual mode. Post VCHA deployment you may change the SDRS cluster configuration to original state
  3. Use VCHA Advanced Deployment against basic option. For more information please refer to: https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/vsphere/vsphere/6-7/vsphere-availability.html
