Recovering VMware NSX-v manager appliance after storage outage

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Reboot of the NSX Manager shows ‘unexpected-inconsistency-boot’ screen.
• Cloning of the NSX Manager fails with ‘Unable to access the vmdk file’ error.
• You do not want to lose recent updates with restore of the NSX Database.

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

This issue occurs when NSX manager file system is corrupted due to storage/network outage.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4, available at VMware Downloads.

To workaround this issue it is recommended to restore the NSX Manager from a backup as outlined in VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere Admin Guide.
