Issue/Introduction

  • When you prepare Host Cluster or add hosts to prepared cluster, some hosts might be prepared but others might become "Not Ready".
  • When you uninstall NSX from Host Cluster or remove hosts from prepared cluster, some hosts might remove NSX VIBs but others might become "Not Ready".
  • The host may install VIBs for other VMware products, for example vSphere replication.
  • You can see error similar to:

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

Some VMware products, for example vSphere replication, can install VIBs to hosts automatically. On the other hand, when you add hosts to prepared cluster (or remove hosts from prepared cluster), NSX Manager tries to install NSX VIBs to hosts (or uninstall NSX VIBs from hosts) automatically. This may cause the possibility that the host tries to install or uninstall NSX VIBs and other VIBs simultaneously.  However, only an installing or uninstalling VIB task can run on the host at one time, some hosts might fail to install or uninstall NSX VIB but others might not.

Resolution

Please retry NSX VIB installation or uninstallation by Resolve option if the host fails to install or uninstall NSX VIB.
