Error: "Check URL and try again" when upgrading VCSA 6.x through the VAMI

Issue/Introduction

• Upgrading from VCSA 6.0 Update 1 fails with the error:
  
  "Check URL and try again."
• While updating the URL, you see the error:
  
  “Failed to set update repo info: Internal Error”

• The endpoint to download repository tries to use HTTPS.
• The vCenter Server Appliance Management Web interface allows you to configure only the HTTP proxy server

Environment

• VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.x
• VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.5.x

Cause

This issue occurs because the VAMI UI does not support HTTPS in vCenter Server 6.0 Update 1 and later. Earlier versions of vCenter Server 6.x had supported HTTP and HTTPS proxy configurations.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting vCenter Server 6.x.

Currently, there is no resolution or workaround.
