A Virtual Flash resource is created for cache configuration on the host and to configure Virtual Flash Read Cache on virtual disks.
A Virtual Flash resource is set up on an SSD device connected to your host and, if needed, the capacity can be increased. You can configure up to 8 SSD devices.
To set up a Virtual Flash resource:
- In the vSphere Web Client, navigate to the host.
- Click the Manage tab and click Settings.
- Under Virtual Flash, select Virtual Flash Resource Management and click Add Capacity.
- From the list of available SSD devices, select the SSD device to use for virtual flash and click OK.
Notes:
- After the Virtual Flash is created, the Device Backing area lists all SSD devices that you use for the Virtual Flash resource.
- A Enterprise Plus vSphere license is required to use vSphere Flash Read Cache.
