Prerequisites

Before proceeding, ensure that you have set up a Virtual Flash resource. For more information, see Setting up a Virtual Flash resource in vSphere 5.5 (2051647).

Setting up a Host Swap Cache

To configure an ESXi host to use a Virtual Flash Read Cache resource for Host Swap Cache:
  1. In the vSphere Web Client, open the Hosts and Clusters view and navigate to the ESXi host.
  2. Click the Manage tab and click Settings.
  3. Under Virtual Flash, select Virtual Flash Host Swap Cache Configuration and click Edit.
  4. Select the Enable virtual flash host swap cache option.
  5. Specify the amount of vSphere Flash Read Cache resources to reserve for swapping to host cache.
  6. Click OK to apply the changes.
