Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to determine the advanced configuration of an ESXi host through a Web browser without creating a vm-support bundle. You may want to use the Web browser to determine these information if the host is:
  • Not connected to vCenter Server.
  • Not available to a vSphere client.
  • SSH locked.

Symptoms:

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5

Resolution

Before proceeding, ensure that:
  • The hostd is running on the host.
  • You have access to the ESXi 5.x kernel via https on the host.
  • You know the username and password to get access to the information.
To determine the advanced configuration of the host using a Web browser, open the Web browser and type the URL: https://hostname or ip address/cgi-bin/esxcfg-info.cgi .
For example:

https://192.168.0.1/cgi-bin/esxcfg-info.cgi
