Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
You are unable to monitor an ESXi host using SNMP when the host has more than 10 storage LUNs attached.
Monitoring an ESXi host using the
snmpwalk
command fails.
A timeout occurs when the SNMP agent tries to gather information about the ESXi host. You see the error:
Failed to get value of SNMP variable. Timeout.
Running the
snmpwalk
command on an ESXi host times out with the error:
Timeout: No Response from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Environment
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0
Cause
Resolution
This is a known issue affecting ESXi 5.0, 5.1 and 5.5.
This issue is resolved in ESXi 5.1 Patch 4.
This issue is resolved in ESXi 5.5 Update 2.
Currently, there is no resolution or work around for ESXi 5.0.
