Issue/Introduction

This article provides information that the backup and restore buttons and commands are not supported on VMware NSX for vSphere controllers.

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.x

Resolution

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.x does not support backup and restore functions on the controller as the NSX Manager stores all hard state. These buttons and commands are not supported on NSX for vSphere:

• copy file command
• show file command
• restore control-cluster snapshot command
• Download controller snapshot button

Note: VMware NSX for Multi-Hypervisor 4.x does support these options as the controller persists all configuration state.
