vSphere Replication VAMI error : local variable 'host' referenced before assignment

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Unable to register vSphere Replication with IP or FQDN.

Environment

VMware vSphere Replication 8.x

Cause

This means the DNS entries for the vSphere replication appliance and vCenter is inconsistent.  You may not have DNS forward or reverse lookup for the vCenter and VR Appliance.

Resolution

1. Time sync with NTP
2. Correct DNS records for both forward and reverse lookup for the vCenter and vSphere Replication Appliance.
3. Reverse lookup is implemented using PTR records in the DNS server
4. Edit the /etc/hosts file in the vSphere replication appliance with FQDN and IP address
