Issue/Introduction

When pairing SRM servers, if you enter a vCenter Server address in the vSphere Client that differs from the one you used when you first configured the respective Host Based Replication Management Service (HMS) appliances, SRM might display a 404 error.

By default, the vCenter Server address text box in the HMS Web interface contains the IP address of the associated vCenter Server.

The vCenter Server address value in the HMS Web interface must match the address that you provide when pairing SRM servers in the vSphere Client. You can use either an IP address or a hostname. However, if you leave the default IP address in the HMS Web interface and then pair the SRM servers using hostnames, the HMS pairing fails with the message Unexpected status code: 404.

Environment

VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.1.x

Resolution

Make sure that the IP address for the vCenter Server in the HMS Web interface matches the IP address that you use when pairing SRM servers.
  1. Go to http://hms-appliance > Configuration > VC Address.
  2. Enter the same IP address or domain name as when you paired SRM servers in the vSphere Client.
