What is the character encoding scheme followed in Smarts products?
All Smarts products use UTF-8 as the character encoding scheme. But, the only interface to the system that enforces the conversion from other encodings to UTF-8 is the Smarts Service Assurance Manager (Smarts SAM) console interface.
For example, character strings that Smarts products reads from devices are assumed to be in UTF-8, but in Smarts products other than Smarts SAM, there is no code to verify that or to convert if they are not.
