Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
- Cannot schedule a task to remediate a host in vCenter Update Manager
- Scheduling an Update Manager task to remediate a host fails
- You see the error:
The name '[hostname] - hosts' already exists.
Environment
VMware vCenter Update Manager 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Update Manager 5.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Update Manager 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Update Manager 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.0.x
Cause
This issue occurs if there is an older remediation task with the same name as the task that you are attempting to schedule.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, remove the older remediation tasks.
To remove the older tasks:
- Go to Management > Scheduled Tasks.
- Identify the older remediation tasks.
- Right-click the older tasks and click Remove.
