Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Upgrading to VMware vCenter Server 5.5, or following a new installation of vCenter Server 5.5:
  • Temperature sensors are missing from the Hardware Status tab of the host while connected to the VMware vCenter Server using the vSphere Client.
  • Temperature sensors are visible in the Hardware Status tab of the host when directly connected to the host using the vSphere Client.


Environment

VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x

Resolution

In VMware vCenter Server 5.5, the Fan, Temperature and PSU Voltage sensors are relocated to the Other category in the Hardware Status tab.

To view the sensors:
  1. Log in to the vCenter Server using the vSphere Client.
  2. Click Host and Clusters.
  3. Select the host.
  4. Select the Hardware Status tab.
  5. Click Other to view information on any Fan, Temperature, or PSU Voltage sensors related to the select host.
