vSphere Client fails when uploading file to datastore

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

In a Windows 7 guest operating system, you experience these symptoms when uploading files to datastore using vSphere Client 4.1:

• Cannot upload a file to datastore via datastore browser
• vSphere Client closes with a critical error

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x

Resolution

This issue may occur if you do not have the required user permissions on the guest operating system.

To resolve this issue, launch the vSphere Client using the Run as administrator option.
