Issue/Introduction

The native SMP/E (non-CSM) installation of the Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS might encounter the following error during the APPLY process:
GIM30206E ** APPLY PROCESSING FAILED FOR SYSMOD Cxxxx00. HOLD REASON IDS WERE NOT RESOLVED.

This SMP/E Error condition can occur if the previous RECEIVE process for the Base product FMIDs included the comprehensive Error HOLDDATA file for the SMPHOLD DD
allocation without also including the Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS comprehensive maintenance file for the SMPPTFIN DD.

Resolution

Although this type of failure can be bypassed by adding BYPASS(HOLDERROR) to the APPLY process, it is recommended that the Target platform (SMP/E Target data sets and CSI )
be deleted with the focus on starting over.  This time specify //SMPHOLD DD DUMMY on the RECEIVE job.  After successful execution of the RECEIVE, execute the APPLY and
ACCEPT jobs for the Base product FMIDs.

Once the Base product FMIDs have been accepted then RECEIVE and APPLY the Error HOLDDATA and PTF maintenance file.
