Processor speed of virtual machine is reported incorrectly in the Guest Operating system

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Virtual machine processor clock speed shows up incorrectly within the VMware ESXi 5.5 guest operating system (OS).

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5

Cause

This issue occurs when Power Management is enabled either within the guest OS, or on the system hardware.

Resolution

This is an expected behavior in VMware ESXi 5.5.

To resolve this issue, disable Power Management.
