Issue/Introduction

  • Running a scripted installation of an ESXi host using the kickstart file (ks.cfg)fails.
  • You see the error:

    Error code: (###########)
    See logs for details

    TypeError: int,int,str,attr

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5

Cause

This issue can occur when the ks.cfg file is encoded in a non-supported format.

Resolution

Re-encode the ks.cfg file in a Unix forma

Note: Take a back up of the ks.cfg file before making any modifications.
  1. Open the ks.cfg file in a text editor.
  2. Go to File > Save As.
  3. Save the ks.cfg file in a UNIX format.
