Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

SNMP devices marked for deletion in a seedfile are not removed when the seedfile is imported into Watch4Net APG Device Discovery module
Seedfile line similar to the following for a device to be deleted is not removed when the seedfile is imported into the Watch4net Device Discovery module:

name=switch1 ipAddress=x.x.x.x snmpCommunityOrUserV3Name=public delete=true

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - Watch4Net/M&R

Cause

The name of the SNMP collector to which this device is assigned is missing from the seedfile line.

Resolution

The name of the SNMP collector (collectorName=) is required so that the Watch4Net APG Device Discovery module can successfully remove the device from the poller configuration.

The correct seedfile line to remove the device from the SNMP collector configuration is as follows:

name=switch1 ipAddress=x.x.x.x collectorName=Watch4NetSnmpCollector-1 snmpCommunityOrUserV3Name=public delete=true

Additional Information

Note: The snmpCommunityOrUserV3Name property does not need to have a valid value for the device that is being deleted, but does need to be present in the seedfile line.
