Issue/Introduction

To be able to run the virtual machine and to run Arcade games using Open GL 3.3 in the Windows Virtual Machine.

Symptoms:
Launching a Windows virtual machine gives an error - No 3D is available from the host. VM 3D capabilities will be disabled.
Launching a game that tries to adjust the Resolution and Frame rates gives an error "Direct Draw init failed, 887601b".

Environment

VMware Fusion 11.x

Cause

Games or Applications will not be able to function using Metal Rendering.
Older Mac (Mid 2011, 2012) unable to use Metal Rendering.

Resolution

Enable Open GL and disable Metal Rendering.

Please enter the following entries in the .vmx file

mks.enableMTLRenderer = “0"
mks.enableGLRenderer = “1”

Before editing the .vmx file of the virtual machine make a back up copy of the .vmx file.
