Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:




No BGP Session alarms are generated when BGP Endpoint or Physical Interface is set to Administratively Down.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

BGP is configured by default to suppress BGP Session Notifications due to Administratively Down.  By default, the bgp.conf file is set with the called AdminDownFlag set to FALSE.

Resolution

  1. Edit the <basedir>/IP/smarts/local/conf/BGP/ bgp.conf file
  2. Set the called AdminDownFlag to TRUE
  3. Restart the BGP Server
