Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
Smarts Service Assurance Manager (Smarts SAM) Certified devices first being discovered and then ending in class NODES in Smarts Open Integration (Smarts OI)
Already certified Smarts SAM devices are first being discovered and showing up in class NODES in Smarts OI
Devices discovered by their host names under a Smarts AM-PM domain but Smarts SAM is showing as IP address
"Browse Details" is grayed out when right-clicking on devices in Topology Browser Console or in DMAC (Domain Manager Admin Console) attached to Smarts OI domain
Environment
VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS
Cause
The above issues can occur when an external adapter is forwarding events to OI, and OI is not configured to subscribe to the same Smarts AMPM domain as Smarts SAM. Smarts OI must subscribe to the same AM-PM domain as Smarts SAM. If Browse Details is grayed out, that is a strong indication that those devices are not coming from Smarts AMPM and they are coming from another, 3rd party source such as HP OpenView.
Resolution
To address this issue, you must ensure that Smarts OI subscribes to the same Smarts AM-PM domain as Smarts SAM.
