Symptoms:




MOM adapter error when running sm_momreg
COM or SOAP error: attachment: maximum retry on the connection

exceeded. HRESULT=0x80004005:Unspecified Error-Connector: Unspecified

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

1. Check the IIS config under the IIS manager.  Be sure the properties for the "MOM 2005 Connector Framework" --> Home Directory tab, the "local paths" options are all be selected (script source access, read, write...)

2. Check how you pass the username and password for the registration.  You must pass the domain along with the username and password.  The command should be:  sm_momreg.exe -s mom-server -u ''domain\user" -p password.

The double quotes are needed because of the backslash in the command.
