Duplicate entries for the same OID result in log file error message in SMARTS
Error Message: DSCV-W-While loading oid2type files, the following entries are duplicate  .1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.2.24 in <BASEDIR>/IP/smarts/local/conf/discovery/oid2type_field.conf

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

When starting up, the AM reads in all the oid2type files and all the entries in those files.  The message indicates a duplicate entry for a particular OID was found.  Typically, this is when an updated or modified certification is added to the oid2type_field.conf.

Resolution

• Locate both files that contain same OID number referenced.
• Determine which one is the latest.
• Comment out the OID entry in the file containing the outdated entry.
• Restart the Availability server.
• Rediscover the device using the OID referenced.
