Cannot see discovery progress in VPN-Tagging server during discovery

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Cannot see discovery progress in Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server during discovery
Show discovery process in the Smarts Domain Manager console does not show any discovery data for Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server

Environment

Smarts 10.1.X

Cause

There is no discovery progress for the Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server because, this server does not perform discovery through the ICF_TopologyManager.
The only place to view discovery progress for the Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server is the log file.

 

Resolution

The Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server discovery process is as follows:

1. The Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server subscribes to the DiscoveryInProgress event from Smarts IP-AM.
2. A router is discovered in Smarts IP-AM.
3. The Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server receives an instance of the DiscoveryInProgress event.
4. The Smarts MPLS VPN-Tagging server completes and logs the router discovery accordingly.

No fix is available or required for this Smarts MPLS behavior. Smarts MPLS is functioning as designed.
