How do you put a virtual machine or other object in maintenance from the Smarts Server Manager (ESM) domain?

Cannot enable maintenance on Virtual Machine objects from Smarts ESM
"Schedule Maintenance" is greyed out for devices from Smarts ESM domains

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

It is recommended to place servers that are represented in Smarts ESM into maintainence using the Smarts IP "host" instance and not the Smarts ESM "Virtual machine" instance.

Resolution

Objects from the Smarts ESM domain can be placed into maintenance using the bulk maintenance function as explained in the Smarts SAM operator guide.
