How do I create a generic discovery filter in Smarts IP

Devices stay in pending discovery in Smarts IP and report 'Does not pass filter'

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

No Smarts IP filter is set up. If there is not a discovery filter set up in Smarts IP, then the devices will be placed in Discovery Pending and will show "Does not pass Filter."

Resolution

To create one or more Smarts IP discovery filters, do the following:

1. In the left panel of the Smarts IP Domain Manager Administration Console, select the domain manager name. A multiple-tab window will appear in the right panel of the console
2. In the right panel, click Discovery Filters.
3. Specify values for each of the discovery filter fields.
4. Decide whether newly discovered systems matching this filter should be automatically added to the topology.
5. Click Add.
6. Click Apply.
7. Click Reconfigure.
