Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

The ElementName and ElementClassName attributes should only be used when the UnknownAgent value in the trap_mgr.conf configuration file is set to CREATE. Also, when these attributes are used, the ElementClassName must be a class of UnitaryComputerSystem. The trap_mgr.conf configuration file is found here:

<BASEDIR>/SAM/smarts/local/conf/icoi/trap_mgr.conf

Values for ElementName and ElementClassName are required for a successful creation of a topology object in the domain. If an Agent/Device already exists in the topology, then the existing values for ElementName and ElementClassName attribute will be used.

If they need to be overwritten then set SysNameOrAddr in the trap configuration. This option indicates the system name or address of the entity that sent the trap. This option also overrides ElmentName and and ElementClassName
