Changes and adjustments made to the vertical split between two different views in the Smarts Global Console are saved when you log back in

Saved Smarts Global Console view does not retain changes to horizontal split panel

After adjusting the vertical split of two different views in the Smarts Global Console so that the upper pane is smaller than the second pane, and then save the view, the change is reflected in the view when you log back in

When you adjust the horizontal split between two different views in the Smarts Global Console and save this view, the view reverts to two panels of equal size when you log back in

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The Smarts Global Console does not support sizing views within a "panel". There are 5 panels in the Smarts Global Console: Top, Center, Bottom, Left and Right. When the Smarts Global Console  is saved, the sizes of these panels are preserved. But, if a given panel contains multiple views, then the space is allocated proportionately. For example, if there are three views in a panel and the panel is arranged horizontally, then each view gets 1/3 of the horizontal space. Similarly, if the views in the panel are arranged vertically, each would get 1/3 of the vertical space.

Resolution

The Smarts Global Console is functioning as designed. You can arrange views in the five available panels and the sizes of the panels will be retained. You can get fairly complex layouts by using the Right and Left panels along with the Center panel to have three horizontally sized views. However, the Top and Bottom panels extend all the way across the Smarts Global Console.
