Issue/Introduction

Can you change the SNMPv3 credentials stored for a device in Smarts IP Availability Manager?

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

You cannot alter / edit the stored SNMP v3 credentials for a device which is part of the Smarts IP Availability Manager topology directly within Smarts. However, it is possible to change the SNMP v3 credentials of a device that has been added to the topology as follows:

  1. Log in to the device.
  2. Change the SNMP v3 credentials as desired. The requirements and procedure for changing SNMP v3 credentials are vendor and device specific.
  3. Once the credentials have been changed, discover the device again in Smarts IP through add agent or a seed file.
